Chelsea traditionally wear an all blue kit, and this continues with their new adidas home kit for the 2008/09 season. The new home shirt features a new white V neck and collar, which is trimmed with yellow ‘Chelsea FC' embroidered into the left collar. A traditional kit features inside the bottom back seam "CHELSEA FOOTBALL CLUB SINCE 1905". Clearly Chelsea are trying to emphasise their heritage and history, for anyone who thinks the club has only existed since billionaire Roman Abramovich took ownership!
The adidas home kit has the famous three stripes down the sleeves with all seams sewn flat to reduce irritation. The shirt has side mesh panels for cooling and comfort and has been designed using adidas' Flow Mapping and ClimaCool® technology. Flow Mapping pinpoints critical areas of heat build-up and airflow, while ClimaCool® offers maximum breathability and moisture management. Thus, allowing sweat and heat to escape while channeling moving air to the skin.
The new Chelsea home shirt made its debut during the Champions League Final loss against Manchester United in Moscow 2008, but Chelsea will hope their fortunes will change as they look to win the Premiership title back from United who have held it for two consecutive seasons.
